Miguel "Michel Fernandez" Fernandez began the Afro-Cuban percussion with Pedrito Diaz in Barcelona in 1978 at the "Taller de Mùsics" school and the Flamenco street school and traditional festivals.
In 1981he discovered the djembe with Mare Sanogo, Mamady Keita each 1st soloist of the Ballet du Mali and Ballet Africain & Koteba de Guinée with Papa Kouyate (percussionist with Myriam Makeba). He decided to study traditional rhythms in depth, travelling to Mali and Guinea with François Dembele, Famoudou Konate, Noumoudy Keita, Coumbana Konde, "Le Cobra du Mandingue" Seku Tanaka and Cuba with 'Changuito' José Luis Quintana, Anga Miguel Diaz, Regelio…
